Project Description
Texas Resource Review
Project Details
Agency Name: Texas Education Agency
Agency Type: State
Services: Technical Assistance
Client Goals
In 2017, Texas legislatures passed legislation requiring the Texas Education Agency to contract with a private entity to conduct an independent analysis of materials in the web portal. Complementing and augmenting the State Board of Education’s TEKS/ELPS alignment review, the Texas Resource Review (TRR) will provide local districts and educators with quality information about publisher instructional materials that districts may then use to select and adopt instructional materials. Safal is engaged to lead the quality evaluation of publisher instructional materials.
Safal Approach
Safal is providing districts and local education officials with quality evaluations done by Texas educator experts on publisher instructional materials so that districts can make the best decision for their students in their local context. Safal has worked in collaboration with the TEA’s Special projects team to develop quality rubrics for K-12 English Language Arts and Reading, to recruit and select Texas educator experts to conduct reviews, trained over 300 Texas educators to conduct reviews, and managed Texas educator expert review teams to develop quality evaluation reports for publisher products.
