Project Description
Career and Technical Education Resource Integration
Project Details
Agency Name: Texas Education Agency
Agency Type: State
Services: Technical Assistance and Technology Solutions
Client Goals
The Texas Education Agency’s College, Career, and Military Preparation department sought to integrate Career and Technical Education resources from a multitude of different sites into a single collection to provide educators and practitioners with a single state-wide resource repository, address gaps in high-quality CTE resource materials aligned to industry-needs, and develop new, relevant, high-quality professional development for Texas CTE teachers. Safal worked with the TEA’s CCMP department to execute these goals in three phases.
Safal Approach
Safal developed a strategy for evaluating and migrating over 10,000 resources to the state’s new Texas CTE Resource Center to improve the accessibility, usability, and quality of the resources. To address gaps in resource materials, Safal wrote over 100 lesson plans aligned to industry-needs, reworked the statewide scope and sequence documents for CTE courses according to updated TEKS, and collaborated with the TEA to develop resources to communicate to stakeholders the re-alignment of the state’s programs of study to the new federal Perkins Act. Safal has developed multiple distinct designed documents for CTE educators to use with students to systematize students’ CTE experiences in middle and high school and to promulgate the idea of CTE for all. Safal has developed numerous e-learning opportunities for Texas CTE educators as well as toolkits for Texas CTE stakeholders.
