Luis Elizondo-Thomson

Luis serves as Senior Advisor at Safal Partners. Previously, Luis served Teach for America (TFA) from 2013 through 2016 as the Houston Executive Director, leading one of the largest and most tenured regions in the country. His previous experience includes 5 years as an investment banker specializing in infrastructure finance and several years working in local and national politics — including two presidential campaigns. Immediately before joining TFA, he managed the Parks By You (“PBY”) campaign, the first phase of a public-private partnership to raise $271 million to improve existing parks, build new ones and elevate Houston to the city with the most hike and bike trails in the nation. During his career as a banker, Mr. Elizondo-Thomson led the Houston office for a boutique investment bank. He was responsible for expanding business operations throughout the greater Houston area and clients nationwide. During the 2004 presidential election, he held various positions. Most notably he served as Regional Political Director overseeing Iowa, New Hampshire, and California during the primary and was promoted to National Director for Hispanic Affairs for the general election overseeing a multimillion-dollar effort targeting Latinos across the country via radio, TV, direct mail and the Internet. Mr. Elizondo-Thomson holds a B.A. in English from Hobart College and an MPA from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. Additionally, he is active with several local and national boards and organizations.
